Pakistani Kashmir was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 7,6 on the Richter scale on the 8th of october 2005. The mountainous city of Muzaffarabad was totally distroyed. The disaster claimed 30% of the population's 100 000 inhabitants lives .

The mission's first objective was to find and dig out victims from the rubbles mainly with the assistance of two rescue dog-assisted teams. This rescue operation was really hard because of the many landslides triggered by the earthquake. They buried victims under a thick layer of ground.

The second objective for International Emergency Team was to concentrate on the prior needs of the affected population as winter comes in. This means making tents and providing kitchen kits (bought in the capital). These measures helped more than 3000 people.

Before leaving the region, the association issued a assessment to identify and classify the population's needs in this totally devastated area, for forthcoming missions.
